Longtime Visual Networks Customer Alliant Techsystems Licenses Application Performance Management Modules of Visual UpTime Select
Advanced Weapon and Space System Company To Utilize New Technology to Enhance Identification of Applications on the Network
Rockville, Md. (May 10, 2005) – Visual Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: VNWK), a leading provider of network and application performance management solutions, today announced that longtime customer Alliant TechSystems (NYSE: ATK) is utilizing the newest modules of its flagship offering Visual UpTime® Select™ to manage application performance. A modular solution, Visual UpTime Select provides in-depth, real-time and historical information that enables enterprises to intelligently manage network availability across the entire enterprise. Headquartered in Minneapolis, ATK is a $2.4 billion advanced weapon and space systems company employing approximately 14,000 people in 23 states.
To enhance its intelligence about the applications on its network, ATK has licensed software modules Select AppFlows™ and Select AppSummary™. Utilizing these offerings, ATK can identify applications that are being used across the network and obtain end-to-end performance data for these applications.
“We are very satisfied with Visual Networks’ core functionality, which we have deployed at 50 sites in our network,” said Fazil Riaz, principal information technology engineer at ATK. “Using Select AppFlows and Select AppSummary in conjunction with Visual Networks’ traditional network performance management technology allows companies like ATK to gain granular insight into application performance across the enterprise. By tracking application response time and application utilization, companies can more rapidly and effectively troubleshoot issues by correlating application, server, client and network performance data. Armed with this intelligence, they are in a better position to help other IT staffers identify the true cause of performance issues, which have historically been labeled network issues.”
“We are pleased that yet another longtime Visual Networks customer has licensed our new application performance management functionality,” said Larry Barker, President and CEO of Visual Networks. “With our cost-effective deployment model, we are uniquely positioned to meet the market’s needs as enterprises continue to rollout peer-to-peer applications that require visibility into remote sites such as Voice over IP.”
Visual Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: VNWK) is a leading provider of network and application performance management solutions. The company’s technologies enable enterprises to reliably and securely manage the delivery and performance of key applications such as Voice over IP (VoIP) across their infrastructures. Visual Networks' products increase application and network availability, optimize the use of bandwidth across the network, and reduce operating costs across traditional and IP-based infrastructures.
