Service Level Reporting
Visual IP InSight Service Level Manager validates the performance of dial, broadband and dedicated IP services such as RAS, xDSL, IP VPNs, LAN, and cable modems. SLM makes it easy to define, monitor and administer service level agreements by providing a real-time, dashboard summary of the SLA performance of IP services and a detailed service compliance summary of each SLA parameter defined for that service. This report compares actual user experiences with performance metrics agreed upon by the customer and network provider.
Visual IP InSight Service Level Manager helps service managers by automating the process of monitoring a service, measuring against service thresholds and generating service level reports. Through Visual IP InSight Service Level Manager, SLAs specific to a customer and provider's requirements can be established and enforced.
At a glance, SLM will show whether an SLA threshold has been violated and allow you to drill down to the hour of day that violation occurred. The reporting capabilities allow you to summarize the SLA performance for all services or filter on an individual service.

- Alerts, thresholds and baselines
Within SLM you receive real-time alerts based on thresholds you define. Also, with Visual IP InSight, you no longer need to set baselines manually:
You can create your own thresholds
Using SLM, operations personnel create thresholds that, when exceeded, generate alerts based on predetermined criteria, such as violating an SLA or running out of network capacity.
Automatically generates new baselines
Since network-usage norms change over time, Visual IP InSight can constantly reevaluate service performance and generate new baselines automatically - no need to refine baselines manually.
Data validation
Visual Networks' validation techniques correct for data that does not correlate to network performance, such as user error or a modem problem. Using Visual IP InSight, all parties - enterprises, value-added resellers, and service providers - can confidently enter into SLAs knowing that the SLAs are accurate and achievable.
