Upgrade to Visual UpTime Select

Visual UpTime Select is a network application integrity solution that enables our customers to meet the challenge of delivering mission-critical applications across the IT infrastructure. This modular and open architecture provides the tools to manage application delivery today and the flexibility to instrument the network now and address new problems that may arise as the infrastructure evolves.

The new Visual UpTime Select system provides several major new features including:
  • All-new web-based GUI
  • New Service Summary, providing a network health overview and threshold events
  • New optional Application Flows module – view detailed client/server application flows
  • New optional Application Summary module – view summarized application flows
  • Automatic discovery of applications running on the network
  • Modular architecture and software licensing
  • New jitter measurement and BGP auto-discovery
  • New OC3 ASE to instrument high-speed links
  • Interface to third party reporting systems for customized reporting
  • Interface to common management platforms such as HP OpenView
Upgrading to Visual UpTime Select
Customers with current Visual UpTime software maintenance receive a Visual UpTime Select software upgrade CD and license key for supported ASEs at no additional charge. To receive your complimentary upgrade CD, please do the following:
  • Collect and save ASE inventory files for all networks and domains on each server.
    From the Visual UpTime PAC > choose domain > file > ASE Inventory > choose network > click begin > save the file
  • Import ASE inventory files into the Select Upgrade Authorization Form and License Summary (see import directions on the first page of the document)
  • Collect server information using this form
  • Please complete these documents and forward to selectupgrade@flukenetworks.com. The Visual upgrade team will review your information and will contact you with further instructions for preparing your network for the upgrade
Once you have received the Visual UpTime Select CD, please visit Visual Networks' Customer Care website for upgrade directions and to register for your license keys. Go to www.visualnetworks.com/customercare, log in and click on "Upgrade License Key Request and ASE discovery uploads (Visual UpTime 7.2 to UpTime Select)."

Obsolescence of the legacy Visual UpTime product
In conjunction with the launch of Visual UpTime Select, the legacy Visual UpTime product (version 7.2 and prior) is no longer orderable. Please review the documents listed below for more details.

New software and hardware maintenance policies
As part of the differentiation between hardware and software in the new Visual UpTime Select product line, software maintenance and hardware warranty services are being more clearly delineated. Hardware services, including extended warranties and enhanced warranty services are now collectively addressed under our warranty offerings.
