Server Hardware Replacement Program
For all Visual Networks® servers that require a software upgrade and/or data migration to a new server hardware platform, please contact your Visual Networks sales representative or call inside sales at 800.240.4010.
Please complete the Server Information Form and submit it to our professional services representative for a price quote.
When calling, please have the following information available:
- Server type (e.g. Dell Server PAM Tier 0, 3, 6 etc. or Compaq, etc.)
- Server hardware serial number
- Current Visual UpTime® software version (e.g. v5.2, v7.2, etc.)
- Software maintenance status (current / none)
- Is data migration required?
- Will the new server hardware be purchased from Visual Networks?
- Will the new server be running Visual UpTime v7.2 or Visual UpTime® Select?
- Software maintenance: customer must be current on software maintenance in order to take advantage of the upgrade program.
- The new Visual UpTime Select Single Processor Server is equivalent to the old Tier 3 PAM.
- The new Visual UpTime Select Dual Processor Server is equivalent to the old Tier 6 PAM.
- Under this program all servers, once upgraded, must run either Visual UpTime v7.2 or Visual UpTime Select.
- Data migration requires a mandatory on-site build. If the customer is providing the hardware, both the data migration and server build will be performed on-site (customer is not required to ship the server to Visual Networks - hence no shipping charge will apply).
- Customers who wish to provide their own hardware must use a hardware platform that adheres to Visual UpTime Select server specifications.
List of specifications (including hardware and software requirements).
- Customers must pay for shipping of the server (two-day shipment is approximately USD $300).
- Data migration is not included when the server is shipped to Visual for build.
- Customers must provide access for Visual Networks Professional Services to remove the software from the old server once the new server has been configured. (This can be accomplished remotely if applicable).
- Customers upgrading to Visual UpTime Select at the time of their hardware upgrade:
- Before beginning the hardware upgrade process, the customer must sign the upgrade agreement in order to receive the Visual UpTime Select software CD.
- After the hardware upgrade is complete and the new Server ID number is known, the customer must follow the documented procedure for requesting their Visual UpTime Select software licenses.
